My boyfriend wants to put up a 30 to 50 ft framed American flag on our living room wall!?

So can anyone please give me some other suggestions for this big open space we have so that I can counter this and get something else up. It's a two story tall wall on one side. I don't want my home looking like some Congressman's office :(
