I did an online application for Ocean State Job Lot last Sunday and then I followed up with a call on Wednesday. I talked to one of the managers and she asked my name and what I applied for. Why can the USPS loose packages without taking responsibility when they are taxpayer supported?

Our taxes already greatly subsidize the US Postal Service, giving them a HUGE financial advantage over other delivery services. Regardless, we have to pay them additional money to protect our investment in case one of their highly compensated employees steal our package (this happened to me when shipping an expensive iPhone overseas where i'm forced to write the contents on the box, alerting a dishonest postal worker that this is a good package to cherry pick). I was told in error by the postal worker who helped me that insurance is not available for packages sent to other countries. They did a cursory "package search" after they lost it and said they couldn't find it. I'm on disability and this loss is devastating to me financially. The USPS gets my tax money, charges huge fees to ship, and want a little extra from us on top to compensate us when they pilfer the packages we entrust to their care. A business like that deserves to go out of business.

I'm 16 and I submitted my resume to TCBY around March, and they called me about 2 weeks ago to schedule an interview the next day. I was pretty nervous for the interview since it was my first one, and I thought it would be maybe 15 minutes. But when I got there the whole thing probably lasted about 5 min. long. She (the interviewer) seemed to really like me and she wasn't really asking me about my qualifications but more like what I'm into and we were talking about my high school because she went there. i am a high school student and i am in a programming class and love it. we recently did a program in microsoft visual studio (C#) and it had to do with windows forms and the different controls you can put on them. we made a program that made messageboxes appear with a selected icon and buttons. intellisense (or however you spell it) tells me that there is a hand and asterisk icon but when i actually select that icon, the icon on the messagebox is either an exclamation point or the error icon. i was wondering if there is actually an asterisk and hand icon? my teacher entrusted me with finding this out :) any help would be great!

I know what bothers me right from the start. Poetic license aside, the mental imagery of branches consuming a sun's dying breath, as though they were the actors upon the star's demise makes them seem sinister. The foreshadowing this does, doesn't match the overall tone of the poem. These branches, presumably, belong to the very trees that have grown by the end and become a forest. So the trees, signify the consuming of the very light of day. The sun should not be having a dying breath at all, it should be winking through the branches, as though the grandpop of the poem is smiling down at the subject. That would set off changes for the better, later in the poem, I think.

Ok I asked a similar question about 30 minutes ago and quickly realized I asked my question the wrong way so hopefully this time I can be more clear. Im a farmer, I live in the middle of nowhere and my definition of a pet is a horse thats north of 1000 pounds. Anyway I raise bison which is a pretty nice animal to raise since its a pretty brave/dumb animal that runs at a herd of bison thinking its gunna take em down. Well apparently boar are said animal. The boar have decided to move into my 1500 acres and apparently they think its good sport to try and kill my bison. Yes I know a dog is no match for a boar and that I need a rifle (Which I have). However I cannot be everywhere on 1500 acres all the time so what I'm looking for is the best dog to essentially guard the herd and raise enough heck that the herd can get away until I can get there. I had considered mastiffs but I've heard they will "target" horses. I'm open to everything from pit bulls to Irish wolfhounds the better half is wanting me to put Black Russian Terrier on the list but I'm open to anything except for great danes (I had a bad experience). Also I am planning on getting more than one dog (read: 5+) in case someone is concerned that I'm entrusting a single animal to guard against a venerable army of razorbacks. Thanks in advance.

so im 24 with no qualifications living in the UK. i have a 3 and a half year old daughter, im separated from her mum for about 3 years were friendly towards each other 99% of the time but we will never get back together. i live in a small horrible 1 bed apartment, i work nights in a supermarket because i need the extra money nights provide but i absolutely hate it! but i can only just scrape by with the money i get from it. about 4 months or so ago i found a new girlfriend and i fell deep in love with her she was perfect and made me more happy than ive ever been, she gave me such energy and i loved to do things id normally hate and the stuff i loved to do was so much better with her. before we got together she had already agreed to work in a summer camp for disabled kids in the USA for 12 weeks, this was fine we both knew it was coming and said we would stay together and skype or email everyday untill a few days ago she phoned me and told me she had been offered the job of her dreams and after the summer camp she could stay on for an extra 18 months and travel America looking after the disabled kids she loves. now i told her i really thought she should do this job as its a once in a life time job only problem is she didnt want to stay with me because its near 2 years for her to be on the other side of the world. when she told me that i didnt cope with it well and told her a lot of silly things in desperation to keep her i wasnt thinking clear and was some what in shock and it really put me off her totally, so she broke up with me and said we could be friends and email once in awhile but we'd never get back together. so now im suck sliding in to depression in a job i hate, with no money, with a daughter i love but means i cant change my lifestyle and ive seemingly lost what i know was the love of my life, i never believed in "the one" untill i met her. all i wanted from her was to try and make a go of the long distance relationship but by the time i got to the point of telling her that i had already put her off, so i dont know what to do? id think more in depth about suicide than i already have but i cant do that to my daughter. so im just stuck and dont know what to do, i have no close friends or family to talk to about this i was talking to my resent ex's mum and she was great but my ex understandable flipped out about it. anyone help me? please dont be rude im feeling fragile and i know there are a lot of people who have it worse than me i just dont want to be miserable any more.

So I was with this girl for 8 years, she became pregnant. I was ecstatic, she wasn't so. She wanted to binge (drug/alcohol) and I gave her an ultimatum. She also said that she entrusted care to her aunt, who is a known junkie, just not on criminal records. Her aunt got the girl to sign away maternal rights with threats of a long drawn out court process. She said that her aunt is going for sole guardianship and is trying to claim negligence on my part in order to supercede the necessity for needing me to sign away paternal rights as well as child support. Her aunt told her that she better not tell me or else....(buh buh buhhhh). Anyways, she filed petition for sole guardianship on Friday and this morning I am going to the courthouse to contest it. Her aunt also has the habit of taking kids in her family that might get taken out of the home and going on the run and into hiding. She has done this when DHS (Department of Human Services) has gone to take kids out of the home and even on the suspicion it would happen. My daughter lives in a heroin/meth den. It is my duty and obligation to get her out of that hell. Do I stand a chance? Any advice would help greatly.

And my neighbor (who has been my best friend for my entire life) has been complaining about not having a laptop even though all his friends do. I recently hung out with an old friend who is now engaged...GO GIRL!!! Yes, this was our screaming, slap happy moment after countless failed relationships and just BS in general. We're both almost 30 (28 to be exact), and with events like ten-year class reunions (to remind us we are not so young anymore-not OLD- but not young either) I personally have started reevaluating my benchmark goals. I was never the girl dreaming about her wedding ring...I dreamed about the first pair of Jimmy Choo's I'd wear to my first board meeting. I wanted to develop ME and be the best me before becoming one with someone else. Don't get me wrong, I did want the complete American dream with the $100K+/year career, house, husband, 2.5 children, dog, and brick red (not white, brick red) picket fence and eggshell/pearl Escalade. I've always been modest in what I want in a man as well as life. I do want to love him, get along with him, have fun with him, worship with him, and for the sake of pro-creating, be attracted to him physically. Living in Atlanta, Ga there are about 12 women for every one man; and with half the men here being homosexual, it's really like 24:1 women:men). The "straight" men have become a hot commodity, and they generally act as if they are oil. The result is the beautiful, successful, intelligent, and sweet women generally lower their standards, take abuse/mistreatment that should not be tolerated, are terribly insecure, and utterly desperate. Yet, there are some who find a balance. Like my friend who is now engaged. She admitted that typically, her fiance is not what she would go for, or what she necessarily WANTS, but she is adamant that when it comes to what she NEEDS in a man, he fits the bill. Apparently, she isn't attracted to him, but he has qualities she likes. I've witnessed her in love before- and she wasted no time professing it though it was already obvious. If she, formerly being so much more picky than I am, has settled, then I really don't know what my chances are finding what I want without having to settle. I don't expect Vin Diesel or Tyrese with money like Bill Gates and a sexual prowess that puts Casanova to shame - but I do expect most of what I want in a man and I should be most of what he wants. I would never want someone to settle for me because I was a safe bet - I actually want to be desired and wanted. I want to give my man the same. Yet, every woman I know that has recently married, or that is getting married, has had to lower her standards and give up on the notion of being in love. Especially in the minority community where a significant number of our young, fully equipped men are in prison, gay, addicted to drugs, and/or disheartedly unemployed quitters (those who won't try anymore). Is it a fairy tale to add "love" and "attraction" to the list that qualifies a potential mate; unrealistic to believe that every qualified, deserving woman will be able to find a qualified, deserving man? The qualifications are case-by-case of course (there should ideally be someone for everyone, no matter what the type or preferences are). Being the mother of a pre-teen who herself desires to see me in a relationship, and after putting so much into her and trying to pursue my career dreams (and that yielding no fruit in light of the recent recession) - being in a healthy relationship is starting to become more and more important to me. Have you ever taken in someone else' child?

We took in our nieces when their (single) mother had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment. When she passed, we obtained full custody of both girls. They were 2 and 5 and are now 3 and 5. The youngest had an easier transition...besides that she had still been breastfeeding (had to be ended when treatment started), which was upsetting to her to abruptly stop, she has been pretty okay...normal sadness, the occasional "Frankie, when Mama comes back, maybe we can...never mind." Miss Frank took it way harsher...more of what we expected...she wanted to go see her mom every second of the day, she wanted to go back to their apartment, etc, but her days were alright...she played with the other kids and did alright...then the passing, and she took it as would be expected. But hopefully that wouldn't be an element if the kids came to stay with you. It was meant to be short term with us, but turned into life long, and it was a big adjustment for them...still is...but they get by and we make sure to keep an open line of communication with them, they can tell us whatever they feel and we give them space when they need it. They're incredibly aware children, which I think will be an advantage in the long run for dealing with all of this as they get older.

I interned at a place 3 months ago ,and everything started to go decently for the first 2 months. The main thing they taught me was data administration work and started me at $9 an hour which is just ok for a person like me with my qualifications. Anyways, I own my own website design business ,and 3 months + go by ,and my boss still considers me an intern. First of all, I use to have this great computer that was a fast computer that I could get my job done pretty quick. I type 95 wpm. So they remove this great computer ,and instead give me a 10 year old computer in which it's very hard to do my own work. My main contribution to the company was learning in my intern ,but 3 weeks before he makes a decision (my boss) whether to keep me or not he slams me with all of this work that involves learning a complete different piece of software ,and expects me to adapt. I adapt as fast as possible ,and constantly get lectures and whined at for making "mistakes." First of all, I developed the company intranet ,and have done Data Administration work ,and type 95 wpm in which they have not given me credit. He gives me a piece of software literally 2 days after hiring me ,and expects me to learn it ,and gets pissed because I made "mistakes" which is inevitable for a first time user on a certain software. And when I try to impress he shuts down my ideas or gets upset ,and then sometimes he even decides he likes them. It's about 2 weeks since I graduated ,and I am beginning to question whether my job is really worth it. Since then I have moved in which it takes me a 45 minute drive to go to work + traffic. So literally I am making $60 for 10 hours of my time which is poor I literally view this as working at McDonald's ,and driving so far to work there ,but this isn't the case. They are paying me to use my freaking brain ,and I am not getting respected for it. It's just I have so much anxiety from my whiny boss who can't stand "mistakes" even if they are minimal very very minimal ,and just because I am a person of great integrity have I stayed because I want to display true value to the company. I understand that in order to apply for the Naval Academy I need a nomination from a congressman. I have two questions regarding the letter that I will send to request one. First, when should I begin constructing my letter and when should it be finished? Second, What should the letter contain?
