What is it like being an interior designer?

im just about to finish my GCSE's and dont really know where to go from here, my school has the odd careers evening but they're always crap. im very creative and love art (i took art as one of my GCSE choices) so i am considering going into interior design but what qualifications would i need? should i stay on and do my A levels and go to university? or leave school once i finish my exams and go to college or do a type of apprenticeship? So if anyone has any experience or knows anyone who is an interior designer whos gone through the whole process some advice would be good thanks!
