Moving to working in Canada in the Oil Industry, Need Help Please?

I am looking to go and working canada for a couple of years or maybe longer in the oil industry but im unsure of the best way to go about this, I know i need to apply for a visa but it's getting the job that I need some help with. Do you need any special traning or qualifications to work on or off-shore and are the chances of actually getting one of theses jobs better than in the UK? Any help would be appreciated :)
